July 11th, 2013 - Allen Takes 2nd Overall in Dakota Classic Modified Tour
The past 6 days have been a grueling stretch as we raced the Dakota Classic Modified Tour. The first night in Jamestown went perfectly, Allen started in the back of his heat and finished 2nd. He started on the pole of a B Main and checked out to win that, then charged his way to the front to win the feature from the 11th starting spot. The next night in Minot was also a decent run, as Allen started mid-pack and finished 7th. Night 3 in Estevan didn't start out so hot with a bad heat run, but Allen came through the B and won it, and got all the way up to 2nd in the feature. Allen probably could have won too, but a slowly deflating right rear tire in the closing laps made the handling of the car go away. This is where the tour started going downhill as Allen struggled to get going in Williston on night 4. Allen started near the tail of the field and could only get up to 14th. Night 5 in Dickinson was another bad start to the night, but after taking a provisional to start the feature, Allen climbed all the way up to 10th in the feature. The final night in Mandan had a good 2nd place heat run, but needed one more lap to win it, and a bad B Main run saw Allen take another provisional. Allen then put on the hardest drive he has done all year as he went from 26th to 6th in the feature. Allen wound up taking 2nd in the tour points to Aaron Turnbull of Estevan, SK.
July 4th, 2013 - Allen Makes Late Race Charge for Feature Win #2
Allen took feature win #2 in Nodak Speedway tonight. He started 5th in his heat race and was quick and moved to 2nd before the checkered flag. He would start mid-pack in the feature due to points inversion, and he made his way up to 6th about 18 laps into the 25 lap feature. The top 5 cars were all fighting for the bottom and got caught up in lap traffic, so Allen took this perfect opportunity and went to the outside of them. He passed 4 cars in one lap, and made the pass for the lead on Drew Christianson on lap 19. Allen checked out on the top and never looked back as he sailed to another feature win by over a second. Next on the schedule will be the Dakota Classic Modified Tour!
June 10th, 2013 - Allen Takes First Feature Win of 2013
Last night in Minot, Allen got out the broom and swept both his heat and feature. Allen started his heat from 3rd place, but wasted no time in getting up front. He made the pass for the lead on lap 3 and never looked back as he sailed to his first victory of the night. Allen also started 3rd in the feature, and he wasted no time in getting into second place right away, Allen had the quickest car throughout the feature, but just couldn't make the pass for the lead stick. Allen finally made the pass with 5 laps to go, and pulled away for his first feature win of the season! Jason Wolla came home 2nd, Aaron Turnbull 3rd, Ed Turnbull 4th, and Steven Pfeifer rounded out the top 5. 6th through 10th were Travis Hagen, Spencer Wilson, Marlyn Seidler, Jerad Thelen, and Wayne Johnson. Allen will be back behind the wheel again next week in Minot!
